Term information

definition

Synovial sac consists of a wall (both a synovial membrane layer and a fibrous layer), a cavity and synovial fluid. Bursae and tendon sheaths are examples of synovial sacs. The fibrous layer is not included in the synovial sac of joint capsule because it is part of the articular capsule.
