A broad range of compulsive behaviors are repeated, including simple motor stereotypies and tics, as well as more complex repetitive movements or compulsions.
Term information
Simple motor stereotypies often involve rhythmic or repetitive movements of specific components of the body including upper extremities or head and face, whereas more complex repetitive movements often include whole body movements (e.g., body rocking, self-hugging).
